GxP is a collective term for quality guidelines, where the “x” stands for various areas of medicinal product development. The most important GxPs are GCP (Clinical), GMP (Manufacturing) and GVP (Pharmacovigilance). These standards ensure that products are safe and that the data generated meet the highest quality requirements for regulatory authorisation.
Compliance with GxP rules is strictly monitored through regulatory inspections. For a CRO, GxP means implementing a comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS) including detailed SOPs and regular training. GxP compliance is not a one-off state but a continuous quality assurance process across all project phases.
Violations of GxP principles (e.g. inadequate documentation or validation) can result in the loss of marketability. In the digital transformation, IT systems must also be validated according to GxP criteria (CSV). GxP thus forms the legal and ethical business foundation for the entire pharmaceutical industry and its service providers.<\/p>\n
